3.54 Billion Railway Passengers in the First Three Quarters of This Year

In the first three quarters of this year, China's railway transport capacity continued to strengthen. Newly opened lines include the Chongqingdong-Qianjiang section of the Chongqing-Xiamen High Speed Railway, the Shenyang-Changbaishan High Speed Railway and the Xiangyang-Jingmen High Speed Railway. The Beijing-Shenyang section of the Beijing-Harbin High Speed Railway and the Hangzhou-Changsha section of the Shanghai-Kunming Railway operated at upgraded standards. By dynamically analyzing passenger travel demand through the 12306 platform and accurately allocating transport capacity, CR operated an average of 11,087 passenger trains per day nationwide, up 7.1% year-on-year.

Tourist trains have grown in both quantity and quality. In response to market demand, railway authorities across regions have launched a range of themed tourist trains, such as family tours, study tours, red tourism routes, health and wellness trips and silver-age trains, offering travelers diverse options and high-quality travel experiences. From January to September, a total of 1,818 tourist trains were operated nationwide, supporting the growth of the tourism and silver economy.

Meanwhile, cross-border and cross-boundary passenger services have been further enhanced. The Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High Speed Railway and the China-Laos Railway transported 23.309 million cross-boundary passengers and 197,000 cross-border passengers respectively, boosting cross-border and cross-boundary tourism and facilitating personnel and business exchanges. CR has also continued to expand pilot programs for high-speed rail pet transport and the "travel light" service, meeting passengers' varied travel needs.
